The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce announced today that China has sued the US for the latest tariff increase measures under the WTO dispute settlement mechanism. The so-called "reciprocal tariff" measures of the US seriously violate the rules of the WTO. The imposition of a 50% tariff this time is a mistake on top of a mistake, highlighting the unilateral bullying nature of the US measures. China will firmly defend its legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the rules of the WTO, and firmly safeguard the multilateral trading system and the international economic and trade order.

At the same time, the State Council Tariff Commission issued an announcement today that from 12:01 on April 10, the additional tariff rate stipulated in the "Announcement of the State Council Tariff Commission on the Imposition of Additional Tariffs on Imported Goods Originating in the United States" (Tax Commission Announcement No. 4 of 2025) will be adjusted. The additional tariff rate on all imported goods originating in the United States will be increased from 34% to 84%.
