Chain Link Fence RFQ Checklist: Compare Supplier Quotes

2026-09-10

A chain link fence quotation is useful only when every supplier prices the same specification. Two offers can show the same fence height and roll length while using different wire diameters, mesh openings, coatings, posts, fittings, and packing. A lower headline price may therefore create extra cost during installation.

This practical RFQ checklist helps importers, distributors, contractors, and project buyers request comparable chain link fence quotations. Use it before sending your next inquiry to reduce specification gaps and speed up supplier evaluation.

Start with the application and supply scope

Tell the supplier where the fence will be used and what the quotation must include. A warehouse boundary, sports court, residential property, industrial facility, and temporary site can require different fabric, coatings, framework, and security details.

State whether you need fence fabric only or a complete system. A complete chain link fence package can include line posts, terminal posts, top rails, tension wire, braces, tension bars, bands, tie wires, caps, gates, and installation accessories.

Define the chain link fence fabric

The fabric is the largest part of most quotations, so describe it with measurable values.

  • Wire diameter: state the required diameter and ask whether it is measured before or after coating.

  • Mesh opening: specify the opening size and confirm the measurement method.

  • Roll height and length: give the finished height and the metres or feet per roll.

  • Edge finish: specify knuckle-knuckle, knuckle-barb, or another required combination.

  • Quantity: provide total area, total length, or the exact number of rolls.

Do not rely on gauge numbers alone because gauge conventions can vary by market. Metric wire diameter gives buyers and suppliers a clearer basis for comparison.

Describe the coating beyond its colour

For galvanized chain link fence, state whether the wire should be galvanized before weaving or galvanized after weaving. Ask the supplier to identify the zinc coating level offered and the related test basis when your project has a formal requirement.

For PVC coated chain link fence, include the core wire diameter, finished outside diameter, PVC colour, and requested coating performance. Green, black, and other colours may look similar while differing in coating thickness and production method.

Projects near coastlines, chemicals, irrigation, or other corrosive conditions should mention the environment in the RFQ. This helps the supplier recommend a suitable finish.

Include posts, fittings, and gates

If the order includes framework, list the outside diameter or section size, wall thickness, length, and coating for each post and rail. Separate line posts from terminal, corner, and gate posts because their sizes and quantities are normally different.

List every fitting and accessory. Small items such as tension bands, brace bands, rail ends, loop caps, post caps, tie wires, and tension bars can delay installation when omitted. For gates, provide the clear opening, height, single or double leaf design, hinge direction, latch type, and locking requirement.

Chain link fence RFQ checklist

  1. Application and installation environment

  2. Fence height and total required length

  3. Mesh opening and measurement basis

  4. Core wire diameter and finished diameter

  5. Galvanized or PVC coating requirement

  6. Roll length and edge finish

  7. Fabric only or complete fence system

  8. Post, rail, fitting, and gate specifications

  9. Packing, labeling, and container requirements

  10. Delivery term, destination port, and required schedule

Compare packing and commercial terms

Ask how rolls, posts, fittings, and gates will be packed and labeled. Good export packing supports container loading, protects the coating, and makes warehouse identification easier. Include pallet, wrapping, barcode, or private label requirements before pricing.

Compare quotations on the same Incoterm and destination. Check currency, price validity, lead time, payment terms, inspection documents, sample policy, and loading quantity. Compare delivered system cost rather than fabric price per roll alone.

Frequently asked questions

Is galvanized or PVC coated chain link fence better?

The suitable finish depends on the environment, appearance, service life, and budget. Galvanized fabric is widely used for practical perimeter fencing. PVC coated fabric adds colour and another protective layer for parks, sports facilities, homes, and commercial projects.

Can buyers compare chain link fence only by price per roll?

No. Price per roll is meaningful only when wire diameter, mesh opening, height, length, coating, edge finish, and packing are the same. Weight per roll can also help identify specification differences.

What if the project specification is incomplete?

Send the available drawings, site conditions, target height, total length, application, and destination. A capable supplier can identify missing details and prepare a structured specification for confirmation before production.
